More HDB flat owners spending lavishly to create dream homes

I just stumbled came across a news article from AsiaOne, titled "More HDB flat owners spending lavishly to create dream homes ".

So, what is this news about?
The news article details how a couple spent almost  a quarter of the SGD $600,000, which they paid for their resale Bishan flat, on the renovation and furnishing.

The Interior designers observed that although such a budget is unusual, they noticed that spending heavily on renovations is an emerging trend.

My view?
If you have read my blog post titled "Will Renovation Raise Your Property?", my concluding message is that it is not wise to view renovation as a return on investment.

The raising trend of couples willing to spend more in these areas could signify that the 1st time buyers of HDB flats intend to stay put in the long run - and that in general, home owners are becoming more savvy and therefore, more demanding in creating their personal home style.
However, bear in mind that an expensive home renovation may not necessary mean that the end product will ooze both style and function.

You still need a good mix of some imagination, creativity and a skilled and responsible Interior Designer or Contractor thrown in. :)
